Directed by Donncha Gilmore, “The Banshee” was a proof of concept for an Irish horror film set in a fictional west coast island. Donncha and I had worked on another short comedy piece he made earlier that year called “The Usual”, and he would later be the cinematographer for my short “The Light Above The Lake”, but for this project I was the storyboard artist.

Being an illustrator and director myself, storyboarding is a fantastic way to bring even a drama to life in the development phases, helping to make something feel more tangible and giving you a shot by shot plan you can use on the day.

You can find the full storyboards below. As we knew the pub location already, I was able to accurately block out the scene in its very difficult to manage space. Although the final film would largely differ from what was drawn (as is often the case) it was very fun to do and proved useful as a fallback.
